January 2003

• Saturday, January 11: Twelfth Night Ball and Revel, The ball will be held at the Albert Pike Memorial Temple, 712 Scott Street in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, 72201.  If you playing for this event, would you please arrive between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m.  The Aeolus Recorder Konsort will play from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. and during the first intermission.

March 2003

• Play the Recorder Month

• Workshop with Martha Bixler: March 7-9 (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)

  March 8, 2003, has been designated "Play-the-Recorder Day."   Martha Bixler, who is on the Advisory Board of the American Recorder, is scheduled to lead the workshop in Little Rock that day. The theme will be "Three Centuries of Late Medieval and Renaissance French Music."  We will play Du Fay's Gloria ad modum tubae and the "Kyrie" from the Messe de Nostre Dame by Guillaume de Machaut.  Ms. Bixler will be available for private lessons on Friday, March 7, 2003.  If you have questions about the workshop, would you please send them to: recorder@ualr.edu .  Thank you.

  We have reserved the Darragh Center auditorium in the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System, which is near shops and restaurants in the River Market District.  The Main Library is located at 100 Rock Street, Little Rock, AR 72201.

April 2003

• Sunday, April 6:  Rehearsal in the UALR Fine Arts building, choir room from 2:15 to 4 pm.  (For a campus map, click here.)

• Thursday, April 10, 4-5 p.m.: The Arkansas Community Foundation has invited Aeolus Recorder Konsort to play for a reception at Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts on Thursday, April 10, 4-5 p.m.  The Arkansas Community Foundation will be having a tea and the event will be indoors.  We will provide background music for their celebration.  

• Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. to 12 noon:  We have been invited to play for an hour at The Oasis Renewal Center in celebration of Earth Day.  The location will be in a tent or on a veranda.

May 2003

• Sunday, May 18:  Rehearsal in the UALR Fine Arts building, choir room from 2:15 to 4 pm.  (For a campus map, click here.)

• Saturday, May 31, 10:30 a.m.: Meet with Bella Vista Recorder Consort at Wiederkehr, begin playing at 11:00 a.m., until  lunch at 12:30 p.m. and then play again after lunch.  (Information about last year's get together may be found by clicking on RECORDER.)

June 2003

• Sunday, June 29:  Performance at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1818 Reservoir Road, Little Rock, AR 72207.  The service begins at 10:30 a.m. and Aeolus Recorder Konsort will play three or four pieces.

• Saturday, September 20: Renaissance Faire at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway.  (Information about last year's Renaissance Faire may be found by clicking on PROGRAMS.)  The Aeolus Recorder Konsort performs at 11:00 a. m. to 11:30 a. m. and 12 noon to 12:30 p. m.

October 2003

• Thursday, November 13: Aeolus Recorder Konsort will perform for the North Little Rock Rotary Club at the Alltel Arena, 312 Main Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114.  Their meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1:00 p.m.  We will have an opportunity to perform while members of the Rotary Club eat and then present a 15-20 minute educational program afterwards.
