The topics of this course cover mainly stoichiometry, acid-base equilibria, precipitation equilibria, and complexation equilibria.
The prerequisite for this course is a C or a better grade, either in CHEM 1403 or in an equivalent course taken at another university with a four-year program that is recognized by UALR. The transcript of each student will be checked at the beginning of the semester to make sure that the student has satisfied the prerequisite. Please consult the instructor if you have any concern about the prerequisite. You must complete the attached "Declaration of Prerequisite" form on the first day of the class.
There will be two 50-minute lecture sessions per week (Monday and Wednesday) and One three-hour laboratory per week (Monday). In addition, we plan to use the Fridays (9:00 - 9:50 a.m.) for problem sessions and to make-up any missed classes. You are urged to attend the Friday sessions regularly. This may help you immensely in doing well in the course.
There will be four 50-minute class tests and a final exam to determine the grade. The lecture and the laboratory scores will be combined to compute the final grade in the course.
There will be no make up exams.Grading Scheme: The Course will have a total of 1000 points.
| Four class tests @100 points | = 400 points |
