WebCT Student Resources

Student Support

There are resources online for learning more about WebCT; some of them are listed on this site. Take the time to explore them; it will save you time in the long run and you'll feel more comfortable in your course. If you run into a problem or want to know more about a specific feature in WebCT, the online help in WebCT can be very useful. Your teacher or other students in your class can also be a help.

Below are some common problems you might run into, along with suggested solutions:

Problem:
You can't log on to your course (first time).  The WebCT ID and password don't work.

Solution:
Be sure you are using the correct case for the ID and password.  Whether it is typed in upper or lower case letters matters!
Your WebCT ID should be the name part of your UALR email address.  Your password is your UALR Trojan ID number (use a capital T). If you have tried this and it still doesn't seem to work, call Computer Services Help Desk (the hours and phone numbers are shown at the bottom of this page).

Problem:
You can get into my WebCT using your WebCT ID and password, but you can't see your course.

Solution:
Ask your instructor if you have been added to the class roster in WebCT. You have to be registered for the class before you can see it in "my WebCT."

Problem:
You want to know how to use a particular feature or are having problem getting something within the course to work.

Solution:

  1. On any page in WebCT, click on the HELP button in the top of the menu bar, and it will give you information about that particular environment in WebCT.
  2. Ask your fellow students or your instructor.
  3. There are also some excellent resources for students at WebCT.com.  Check them out at
    http://www.webct.com/students/
  4. Call the UALR Computer Services Help Desk (see below).

Problem:
You can't log on to the WebCT server.  The message you get is that the server is down.

Solution:
Call Computing Services Help Desk (see below) and inform them of the problem.
