4. Healthy Habits - On average a healthy lifestyle adds 11 to 12 years of life when compared to those not following a healthy lifestyle. (5 Trojan Points for maintaining five or more of the seven healthy habits 95% of the time)
- Sleeping 7-8 hours per night.
- Stop smoking or if an ex-smoker, remain stopped.
- Eat healthfully: foods low in fat and cholesterol, high in fiber, moderate in sugar and salt.
- Avoid alcohol or drink moderately (no more than 1-2 drinks in any 24 hour period)
- Maintain a healthy weight by eating well and keeping active or lose weight (if overweight)
- Balance stress and pressure with adequate time for rest, relaxation and recreation.
- Use seat belts 100% of the time.
5. Wellness Education Participation – Points will be awarded for attending any of the courses in the Leisure Science (LESC) Department or the Health Science (HSCI) courses listed below. Please call Susan Meador, 569-3253, to find out how to register for Leisure Science or Health Science courses. No registration or fees are required for the Fit/Well workshops. Pre-registration is required for the American Red Cross CPR and there is a $20 fee. Call the Fit/Well Office, 569-3228, to find out more about the Workshops or CPR. (10 points per LESC or HSCI course, 5 points for each Fit Well workshop or CPR.)
