Fireworks Workspace Overview

Fireworks is a graphics program intended specifically for designing graphics for the Web. In Fireworks, you can create, edit, and optimize files and then additional functionality such as rollovers an JavaScript enabled interactivity. In this module we will look at the Fireworks workspace.

Workspace Areas and Tools

  • Canvas - The space inside the document window where the created image will reside.
  • Tools Panel - Contains tools for editing images such as the Text Tool, Vector Shapes tool, Paint Bucket Tool, Color Chooser.
  • Property Inspector - Much like the Dreamweaver Properties Inspector. Provides contextual information on the current selection
  • Display Buttons - Provides options for viewing the document in its current state (original) and how it will be exported in different formats (Preview, 2-Up, 4-Up)
