| Job Description | The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Dance on a tenure track, nine month appointment to begin on August 15, 2013. The position (R97796) offers the qualified individual an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the only BFA in Dance Performance offered in the state of Arkansas. The department is dedicated to an integration of dance and theatre within a cohesive unit in order to expose students to both forms and to provide an experience with the potential for a collaborative fusion. Governance, planning, and administration are developed by the faculty as a whole. Responsibilities will include teaching all levels of ballet, composition, and dance history. An opportunity exists as well for the individual to teach modern technique as well as an area of personal interest such as dance media and technology, kinesiology/somatics or body conditioning. Additional responsibilities will include participation in the direction of and choreography for dance concerts and performances, student advising and mentoring, participation in recruitment and retention initiatives, the exercise of leadership potential and administrative skills, and developing and maintaining a national profile as a creative artist and/or scholar. |
| Qualifications | The successful candidate will have significant credits in the field as a performer/choreographer, and a demonstrated commitment to the highest levels of collaboration. Minimum Qualifications: MFA in Dance, three years experience teaching in an institution of higher learning or in a professional dance setting Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Dance or in a related field in addition to the required MFA. |
