Secondary Education
Welcome to Secondary Education
The Secondary Education Program prepares teachers for licensure in grades 7-12 in the following content areas: art, biology, chemistry, earth science, English, foreign language, history, mathematics, vocal music, physical education and health sciences, physics, political science, and speech and drama (not all programs offer all majors).
Candidates are required to maintain professional connections with schools, and as graduates, they continue to work collaboratively with school colleagues, parents/guardians, and the community; in addition, they acquire the foundations and dispositions in research, problem-solving, reflective thinking and technology for lifelong learning.
- If you are an undergraduate at UALR, investigate your opportunities at the Secondary Education Minor link.
- If you have a degree in one of the areas listed above, the Master’s in Education with Initial licensure will meet your needs. The Provisional License provides an option for those who qualify to teach while completing the licensure program.
