Yes, many of us have dreamed of heading off to Barbados with our laptops and be able to teach class--only to find out that putting a course online is more than just tossing lecture notes and quizzes online!
You are invited to take part in the Interactive Distributed Learning (IDL) Certificate Program, a professional development program for faculty who want to teach online (web-enhanced or web-based courses). The 10 week, web-enhanced IDL Program models effective online teaching and learning strategies while providing instruction, collaboration and support for developing quality interactive online learning experiences. Participants will walk away with one completed online course module and a plan for completing his or her web-enhanced or web-based course. Plus a jug of sunscreen!
The IDL Program meets face-to-face as well as online in WebCT. Face-to-face sessions include 7 weeks of WebCT Workshops scheduled at various times for your convenience. View the schedule and sign up for workshops at The Provost's Faculty Development Calendar
Other attendance requirements include a DEAC meeting, 3 one-on-one conferences, the IDL Orientation and the IDL Showcase Presentation. Completion of online activities and assignments is also required for earning the IDL Certificate. Please see the syllabus for more information.
