Staff Senate will be hosting a bone marrow drive for Leslie Harris who was diagnosed with Leukemia just before her son was born in September of 2011. The doctors do not expect that she will survive without a transplant, so it is imperative that a donor is found. Leslie’s mother is a former UALR staff member, and we are happy to have the opportunity to help Leslie find a donor.

Central Arkansas Development Council will begin taking applications for the regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on January 9th.

This past Wednesday, November 30th, the Bloodmobile parked by the Student Center and the donation station set up in the Student Housing Commons Building serviced a combined 71 participants!
The donations collected will potentially save 192 lives over the holidays.
A special thanks goes to UALR students who made up over half of the participation!
The Helping Hands Application deadline date listed on the application was meant for Monday, November 21st instead of Wednesday, November 21st. Therefore, the deadline date has been extended to Wednesday, November 23rd.

UALR Staff Senate and the Open House Committee would like to say “Thank You” for attending Staff Senate’s Annual Fall Open House last Thursday. Because of you it was a great success. For those of you who were unable to attend you really missed an entertainment treat by the Bale Elementary Drummers.
The teacup auction and especially the “new” online auction was a big hit with the campus. Congratulations to everyone who got exactly what you wanted with your high bids. Funds raised through the auction bids will allow us to help UALR families with their holiday meal. But we still need your help with donations of canned goods and non-perishable items.
I would still like to challenge every department on campus to help us make more UALR families have a better holiday this year. Many of the items needed to prepare baskets for familes are normally on sale this time of year, please think of us while you are shopping for your holiday meal.
We are still accepting applications from UALR employees needing help with their holiday meal until Monday, November 21st.

The Staff Awards Ceremony will be held on April 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the DSC Ledbetter Halls A, B, and C. Thanks to the 2011-12 Staff Awards committee for their timely efforts. The committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, November 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Administration South Room 110.
