- AOL Users: If you use American Online (AOL) for web access,
you will need the AOL version 7.0 or higher client software and the Internet
Explorer 5.0 or higher browser. WebCT does not recommend that you use earlier
versions of the AOL client with earlier version of Internet Explorer, as you will have
problems accessing many of the WebCT features. WebCT 4.1 allows you to
use AOL 7.0 and AOL 8.0 (PC and Mac) — but AOL 7.0 and 8.0 does not work with WebCT's
chat and
whiteboard.
- Extremely Important: You can
now use AOL 7.0 and 8.0 browser to connect to WebCT, but you cannot use it to access WebCT's chat and whiteboard features. If your instructor is using the WebCT's
chat and whiteboard, then please follow the following instructions:
Connect to the internet with AOL, but then minimize it and use another browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) to connect to WebCT.
For best results with AOL, WebCT recommends the following:
1. Connect to the Internet using AOL version 7.0 or higher (AOL 3.0 and earlier, 4.0 are not supported).
2. Open a private chat within AOL (not necessary, but this allows the AOL client to remain open without messages asking you if you wish to disconnect once the session is minimized).
3. Minimize the AOL session.
4. Launch a recommended browser as listed above.
- AOL Users: If you use American Online (AOL) for web access,
you will need the AOL version 7.0 or higher client software and the Internet
Explorer 5.0 or higher browser. WebCT does not recommend that you use earlier
