Doc Yoder's Beard Cutting


As some of you know, I was treated for throat cancer in 2004. As a result of the radiation therapy, I stopped shaving for a few months, and then I just stopped shaving altogether. I decided to grow out what remained of my beard until I got the all-clear at the five-year post-treatment mark. When I hit that mark, I decided to record the event. This video was shot by Laura Yoder with a Panosonic DMC-TZ3 camera.


Bob Dylan: Lyric Poetry

In the fall of 2009 I conducted an undergraduate seminar on Bob Dylan. We had a great time, and I at least learned a lot. This class received some attention in the local media, and during the semester before the course, Tim Muren, a student in another class class interviewed me about my plans for the Dylan class. Harry Potter Interview on Fox News (!? -- yes, Fox News)

On July 15, 2009 the movie of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released. That is also my older daughter's birthday. Somehow the local Fox affiliate got my name and called me for comment on the movie as part of the buildup. So on July 14, 2009, I agreed to an on-camera interview at the theatre. It happens that Harry Potter is something we do as a family, so I was able to commandeer Hannah and some of her friends for the on-camera interview. I am just a bit player here. I also did a radio interview the next morning, again for Fox. Hmmm.
