Office: Because of the renovation of Stabler Hall, I have neither an office nor an office phone
number. The English Department has a temporary office in the old Schuster's Building in
University Plaza at Asher and University. For my purposes, if we have a conference, we shall
meet either in the library or the student center. We are supposed to be back in Stabler Hall by

Goals
- Students will gain an appreciation and understanding of William Blake's work as a poet,
painter, engraver and multi-media artist.
- Students will gain an understanding of the literary, political, religious and social contexts
within which Blake lived and worked.
- Students will improve their acquaintance with research methods, both traditional and
modern, using both hard copy books and internet resources.
- Students will gain an appreciation of the ways in which meaning is constructed from the
stable and unstable relationships of a variety of elements, including text, image, and sequence.
- Students will improve their skills in writing and oral communication.
Objectives
- Students will read a variety of Blake's writings, both published and unpublished.
- Students will write both formally and informally about their interpretations and
understandings of these works.
- Students will share their interpretations and understandings both in class discussions and in
weekly journals posted to the course listserve.
- Students will do research on chosen topics using both library and internet resources.
- Students will present oral reports on various aspects of their research.
