Landini, Ciconia, Cara, Tromboncino, Festa, some foreigners working in Italy (Willaert, Arcadelt, Morales, etc), Gesualdo the Mad Prince, Merulo, Locatelli are some of the composers whose music we will sample and savor. We will work on recorder techniques and musical expression within the contexts of compositions by these imaginative composers.
Recorder players with all different levels of experience are invited to participate and auditors are most welcome. You may also bring your viols, renaissance flutes, and even krumhorns. We will focus mainly on the recorder, but these and other instruments can be included in some of the sessions for an even greater sonority.
With a two hour dinner break at
U.S.Pizza, the Friday session will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at
Grace Presbyterian Church,
9301 N. Rodney Parham, 72227, phone 501-225-3274. The Saturday session will be held
from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Darragh Center auditorium, Main
Library (Central Arkansas Library System), 100
Rock Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. Coffee and light snacks
