What is FERPA?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, known as FERPA or the Buckley amendment, is found in Title 20, section 1232g of the United States code. This act was designated to protect the privacy of education records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records, and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearings.

For more information on FERPA, please refer to the UALR Student Handbook.
