Arkansas Department of Correction

The Arkansas Department of Correction operates 16 adult correctional facilities, including one Boot Camp and four Work Release Centers. In addition, the department oversees two privately managed institutions. On August 23, 2000, there were 10,193 adult males and 662 adult females incarcerated in state correctional facilities. An additional 1,125 inmates sentenced to the Department of Correction were housed in county jails and other approved sites for a total jurisdictional population of 12,066 inmates.

The McPherson Unit is currently recruiting psychology student interns for programs in T.C. (Therapeutic Community), S.A.T.P. (Substance Abuse Treatment Program), and Recreation Therapy.
