Physical Plant

Welcome to the Physical Plant

Physical Plant is responsible for meeting the ever-changing needs of the UALR community for buildings, mechanical equipment, utilities, grounds, safety, and custodial services. We are charged with the responsibility of maintaining the physical environment that is necessary to carry out the university mission.  Our permanent staff includes talented crafts persons, skilled professionals, and highly-qualified support personnel. We are all here to make our campus a comfortable and efficient place to study, work, live, play, or just visit. We provide services such as the following:

  • Power, heat, air conditioning, and water
  • Janitorial services
  • Routine repairs and maintenance in campus buildings, including plumbing, electrical, and structural work
  • Minor renovations, such as painting, carpeting, shelving, and upholstery
  • Key cutting, lock keying, and door hardware
  • Remodeling and renovation
  • New construction
  • Hauling and moving
  • University vehicle rentals
  • Special event set-up
  • Grounds maintenance

Any problems encountered on university grounds or in university buildings should be reported promptly by calling the Physical Plant service desk at 501-569-3390.  In the event of a problem after hours (other than 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday), please notify the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at 501-569-3400 who will notify Physical Plant duty personnel.  If reported problems are not attended to expeditiously, please feel free to contact the department director at 501-569-8897, or by e-mail at dlmillay@ualr.edu.
