Wind Ensemble
The UALR Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Michael Underwood, is now in its fourth year. It is made up of music-majors, non-music majors, faculty, and musicians from the community. Its mission is to educate our students while learning and performing the great classic literature for winds and transcriptions of the masters. To date, the UALR Wind Ensemble has performed works by Bach, Borodin, Fillmore, Gabrieli, Gershwin, Grainger, Joplin, MacDowell, Mozart, Offenbach, Persichetti, Rimsky-Korsakov, Shostakovich, Sousa, Still, Vaughan Williams, and Weill as well as two compositions by UALR student, Jeffrey Higgins. This year we continue the tradition to provide avenues to perform great works from the literature as well as to point new directions in wind composition and arranging. To that end, we plan to perform music from TV themes in addition to the classics.
If you are interested in joining the Wind Ensemble, please contact Dr. Michael Underwood at mpunderwood@ualr.edu or by calling (501) 569-3301 or (501) 569-3294 (main music office).
Be sure to attend UALR Wind Ensemble’s Fall Concert on Sunday night, November 22nd in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
