Guest Artist Recital: Joanne McDade, soprano (faculty, Hendrix College)

Joanne McDade, soprano, with John Krebs and Stefanie Dickinson, accompanists, will perform a recital of art songs by contemporary American composers on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 at 12:15 in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building of the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. The program will feature three contemporary “reimaginings” of Italian art songs by Richard Pearson Thomas, “Metamorphosis”, a song cycle by the renowned vocal coach and opera conductor Benton Hess, and “The Margaret Songs” with texts by Willa Cather set to music by Libby Larson. Joanne McDade and John Krebs are on the music faculty at Hendrix College, and Stefanie Dickinson is an instructor of music theory at UCA. Admission free. Call (501) 569-3294.
