Tom Richeson is an Associate Professor of Music at the University
of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has two degrees in music performance
from the University of Tennessee,
where he studied with Jerry Coker and William Scarlett. As a professional
trumpeter (he also plays MIDI wind controllers, flutes, piano and
shofarim) Tom toured with The O'Jays, The Temptations, Lou Rawls,
The Spinners, The Jacksons (including Janet & Michael), Diana
Ross, Charlie Spivak, and The
Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. In addition, he has performed with Frank
Sinatra, Art Porter & Art Porter Jr, Pharoah Sanders, and the
Knoxville and Arkansas
Symphony Orchestras.
In 1986 Tom received a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Fellowship.
Most recently he has toured in jazz-rock fusion ensembles all over
Europe and parts of the Middle East with Proclaim!
International and with contemporary worship bands with Worshiplanet.
He has been a member of the Journey
Church worship team in Little Rock. One of his research areas
focuses on worship music in the contemporary church. Tom is married
to Brenda, and together they enjoy their family, which as of this
writing includes seven grandchildren.
