Originally from Canada, Dr. Bevan Keating, Assistant Professor of Music, holds a DMA from Ohio State University. He is the Director of Choral Activities and Voice Area coordinator at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Completing his undergraduate music degree and Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, he was awarded the Don Wright Vocal Scholarship. Keating continued his formal conducting studies at The Ohio State University. After finishing his masters degree, receiving a P.E.G.S. scholarship and winning the prestigious Leslie Bell Conducting Competition in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Keating returned to OSU in 2001 and completed his DMA degree in the study of choral, orchestral and winds conducting.
Dr. Keating has conducted numerous choirs in Canada and the United States including co-founding the very successful Amabile Tenor/Bass Ensemble, Chamber and Treble Choirs, Canada and the London Choral Guild, Canada. He also conducted the internationally recognized The Ohio State University Men’s Glee Club, OSU University Chorus and University Chorale.
In addition to leading choirs, Dr. Keating has conducted several opera productions and large orchestral and chorus works including most recently Amahl and the Night Visitors for the Wildwood Opera Company, Copland’s The Tender Land and Schubert’s Mass in G. Dr. Keating has prepared choruses and players for the Central Ohio Symphonic Orchestra, The Ohio State University Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra London, Ontario and Canada’s most prestigious Baroque orchestra, Talfelmusik. |
