About Us
The UALR Master of Business Administration program is appropriate for those who wish to pursue their MBA on a full-time basis, and to help support this approach, a number of graduate assistantships are available for those who do.
At the same time, it is designed for working professionals who want a first-class graduate business education without interrupting job, family, and community commitments. All MBA Courses are scheduled in the evenings and are offered in multiple summer sessions as well as in the two standard semesters of the academic year.
The courses are “face-to-face,” held in modern classrooms in the state-of-the-art Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development, which houses the UALR College of Business. This direct interpersonal approach to learning is a key characteristic of the program that allows the most direct student-to-student and student-to-faculty interaction.
The environments where students and faculty directly interact represent an integral element of the dynamic, highly collaborative learning environment of the UALR MBA. All classes have size limits that permit and facilitate active student participation and engagement.
UALR MBA students come from a wide variety of universities across the nation and internationally, and bring with them an equally wide range of academic preparation and work experience. One of the many benefits of UALR’s geographic location is the diverse employer base and the diversity of MBA students who come to the program from those employers. This contributes to a rich learning environment and offers outstanding opportunities for establishing lifelong friendships and collegial relationships.
UALR MBA program participants will learn about cutting-edge theories in all the functional areas of business, and will extend that learning to applying those theories to the challenges of today’s global workplace. That is, students learn about managing, but also learn how to manage in order to meet the business challenges for today and in the future. The applications-oriented program prepares students in both theory and practicality.
It is a mix of theory and the application of that theory to workplace practice that helps set the UALR MBA apart from other programs. The focus on application is emphasized by many of the courses in the program designed as “experiential” courses, and by a variety of opportunities for experiential learning outside the courses - - such as internships, independent studies, international field study, participation in one or more of the “business plan” competition possibilities, and projects/assistant- ships with the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center or the Institute for Economic Advancement (both economic development outreach units of the College of Business).
