Pending funding that has been requested from the National Science Foundation, some financial support for participation in the conference will be available for graduate students and recent Ph.D. recipients (having received their Ph.D. in 2004 or after). In awarding support, preference will be given to beginning researchers who will be making a presentation at the conference. Women and minority participants are especially encouraged to apply for support.

1. Applications

   Requests for financial support should be sent by e-mail to searcde-28@ualr.edu and should include the following information:
   • Name, address, institution, degree date (received or anticipated)
   • Type of Visa (if not a US resident)
   • Dates of arrival and departure
   • Estimated expenses (for travel, lodging, meals)
   • A brief curriculum vita (in pdf or plain text)
   You should plan on saving your receipts for everything including meals. Please note that NSF funds cannot be used to reimburse the conference registration fee. Participants receiving funding are expected to attend the whole conference, to stay in the conference hotels, and to purchase airline tickets at least 14 days in advance.
   

2. Deadlines

   Processing applications for support will begin September 15, 2008, but you are encouraged to apply immediately. Applications received after September 15 will be considered, subject to availability of funds.
   

3. Reimbursement

   If you are approved for support, you will receive instructions at the conference regarding reimbursement paperwork.
