Arkansas Capital Corporation

Leslie Lane, senior vice president of Arkansas Capital Corporation, said the group has identified four keys to driving the modern economy and to boosting the state’s per capita income:

  • Higher education—”We continue to live in shrinking world, and we have to compete in a global economy based on our ideals. We are in an age where education is integral to our lives and is a foundation for success.”
  • Research—”This is where people far smarter than me continue to expand the boundaries of human knowledge which can then be taken into the global marketplace. Without research, we fail to continue to expand our knowledge and are forced to compete on costs. It is amazing the bright minds we have in Arkansas and the innovative concepts they develop in our labs.
  • Entrepreneurship and Private Equity Capital—”These last two keys are where we come full circle. These represent the talented workforce meeting the innovative ideals and the formation of new companies to take that knowledge to the marketplace. The private equity provides the financing to grow companies and provide the economic prosperity we all can enjoy.”

With stacks of business plans to review, Leslie Lane and other Arkansas Capital Corp. executives manage the highly competitive annual Governor’s Cup for college students.
