Vocational Rehab Consultant – Northern VA/Washington, DC

Working under general supervision and technical direction, responsible for managing assigned caseload to ensure individuals receive appropriate services in order to return-to-work and normal activity timely and in the most cost effective manner.

  1. Interview and evaluate claimants to determine degree of disability and employability.
  2. Provide vocational services to claimant’s cases, which do possess difficult case issues and/or injuries.
  3. Develop and implement the vocational rehabilitation plan.
  4. Conduct ongoing assessments of the plan for successful case management.
  5. Act as liaison with all parties involved in the rehab process.
  6. Complete and maintain appropriate documentation (i.e. case notes, reports, billing, etc.).
  7. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with customers.
  8. Accurately and appropriately charges for services rendered.
  9. Perform additional duties and/or is assigned special projects as requested.
  10. Must be available to travel and work irregular hours.

Qualifications:
Advanced ability to analyze and make sound judgments and to accurately document activities. Strong oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with claimants, medical professionals, employers, claims staff and others. Excellent negotiation skills to effectively establish target return to work dates. Knowledge of state, local and federal laws related to vocational rehab. Masters’ Degree, Licensure/registration and special certification as required by law required in certain jurisdictions plus 1-3 years of work experience in vocational rehabilitation or related field, preferred (preferably in worker’s compensation). Bilingual skills preferred. Proficient computer skills and knowledge.

The goal of the Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager is to ensure claimants are receiving appropriate services in order to return-to-work and normal activity in a timely manner. CALL FOR STUDENT POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The Arkansas Rehabilitation Association (ARA) invites your participation in the 2010 Annual Training Conference, which will be held May 26-28, 2010 at the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The theme of the 2010 Annual Training Conference is Staying Ahead of the Game: Technology, Innovation and Top Notch Service Delivery. All interested undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit proposals for poster presentations.

The Student Poster Program Committee will review and select submissions that consider the proposals’ contributions to a well-balanced program of interest to the members of the ARA, who represent public and private rehabilitation agencies, facilities, hospitals, schools and other organizations serving the needs of individuals with disabilities.
