Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Division Administrator for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) serves as leader to rehabilitation supervisors, professionals, and technicians in multiple field offices covering the western part of the state. This professional rehabilitation leader insures outstanding customer service for persons with severe disabilities by providing training in policy interpretation, participating in case reviews, assisting staff in resolution of client or agency disputes via administrative reviews; assists in personnel selection and assignment, performance and production standards; serves as a liaison in workforce investment related activities, and serves as a community liaison and leader. Applicant may also be involved in reviewing contracts and grants, assisting in relocation of DVR offices and responding to correspondence related to inquiries. Applicant must be willing to perform extensive job related travel.

Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Administration, Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Evaluation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Public Administration or a disability related field and three (3) years supervisory experience. The person selected will need to possess a strong working knowledge of vocational rehabilitation services, principles and practices, and a strong background in working with individuals with disabilities. Candidates who are certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Certified Vocational Evaluators (CVE) or Certified Public Managers (CPM) and have 3 years of supervisory experience are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who meet CSPD requirements.

Arkansas State University is recruiting applicants for the position of Counselor in the Counseling Center.

The position requires:

  • A Master’s degree in counseling or relevant discipline
  • Supervised internship, clinical field placement or practicum experience
  • One year of supervised experience at the graduate level in the counseling of college-aged students
  • Appropriate state licensure within a one year period of appointment

The salary is $34, 701.00, a good benefit package and excellent working environment.

The general responsibilities of this position include working with college-aged students to provide: mental health counseling, interpretation of inventories essential for career counseling, and group and/or classroom presentation of counseling related issues. Office hours are 8:00-5:00 pm; however, there are after hours programming and evening and weekend crisis calls responsibilities as needed.
