Dr Carolyn Pearson
Professor, Measurement and Evaluation

I was born and raised in Louisville, KY but moved to Tampa when I was 19.   I went to the University of South Florida where I earned my bachelors in health education, my masters in epidemiology and biostatistics, and my doctorate in measurement and evaluation.   Before moving to Pensacola in 1991, I was a science teacher in Hillsborough and Pasco counties for 6 years. I was a Professor at the University of West Florida for 13 years before I moved here to University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My husband, Bill, is a Math Coach at J.A. Fair High School.

My favorite pastime is horseback riding!

We have two cats; Jack, who is the black cat, and Coco, his "wife;" they're playing.

Check out the cool video of me walking Jack on his leash!

I also have two horses, Big Black Jack (the love of my life), and his buddy, James.

Jack is a "true black" quarter horse, stands 16.2 hands (his back is up to my eyes, and I'm 5'6") and is 1500 pounds! He is a huge horse. He is 10 years old and a gelding, and used to be a "head horse," which means he was a roping horse that the rider would rope the cows head. Now he is a pleasure/trail horse.

James is a "crop-out" pinto, which means both of his parents were true paints but he turned out solid. He stands 15 hands and is 1200 pounds (which is normal size). He is 6 years old and is also a pleasure/trail horse that me and my friends ride.

I want to dedicate this website to the talented lady who made all of this possible, my former graduate assistant, Ms. Melissa Kelly. Mel developed the entire site, all I did was supply the content, and has patiently taught me much about using web-development software.

I will always be grateful to her.
