Thousands of mobile homes collected for victims of Hurricane Katrina sit unused at the Hope Airport more than a year after the storm hit the Gulf Coast. The trailers were intended by FEMA to be used by storm victims. The agency said various restrictions on where the trailers could be placed stalled deployment. Some were sent to north-eastern Arkansas to aid tornado victims last spring. FEMA spokesman David Passey said that 1-hundred and 12-thousand trailers had been sent to aid victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita from Alabama to Texas. The Hope airport entered a 24-month contract to store the homes and the staging area has brought in revenue and jobs.
