Day 1 of the ISM Workshop consists of activities focused on using the Internet and learning skills involved in sharing information over the Internet. Day 1 is broken into two sessions. The AM session covers topics such as downloading images, basic HTML commands that can be used in websites and in the Quiz Maker, presented on Day 2, understanding Java applets, and learning how to use and teach with Carnegie Mellon's Virtual Chemistry Laboratory. The PM session consists of topics such as effective techniques for gathering data from search engines, free or academically discounted software that can aid in education, MERLOT, and an introduction to MSDS sheets. All of this material will be built upon during Day 2.
