Student Expectations :

Attendance:  You should check in everyday, even if it is just to check your email.   Work/exams may not be made up unless excused by instructor.

Quizzes... If you feel like an answer to a quiz question is graded incorrectly, you may email the instructor about your concern. You must include the specific quiz question (not just the number, but the actually wording), and the page number in the text that you found the correct information. However, the student is allowed to take the quizzes 4 times throughout the chapter week. The highest score will count for the grade. Instructor will not excuse missed quizzes unless extreme circumstances have occured . >

Caveat:

·        The procedures for this course are subject to change.  If there are changes, they will be announced to the class through WebCt e-mail.

STUDENTS WITH   DISABILITIES :

Please see the instructor at the beginning of the course for any arrangements.  It is the policy of UALR to accommodate students with disabilities, pursuant to federal and state law.  Any student with a disability who needs accommodation, must inform the instructor at the beginning of the course.  The chair of the Department of Health Sciences, Dr. Newman McGee, is also available to assist with accommodations.  Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Support Services, which is located in the Donaghey Student Center , Room 103, ph. 569-3143.

An Incomplete

If you have an emergency occur during this semester which enables you from completing several weeks of the coursework, you should email me through WebCT as soon as possible.  We will then do the best we can to work out the situation and complete make-up work.  If it is not possible for you to finish out the semester, you can ask me for an incomplete.

Instructors can give an Incomplete, called an "I", instead of a letter grade.  At the end of the semester, the student has a maximum of 90 days to complete the work in the course.

However, the "I" is given on instructors' discretion.  In order for me to give an incomplete, I will need documented proof of your situation and you will need to set up a face-to-face meeting in my office to discuss the details involved in the incomplete work.  We will then sign an agreement stating that the "I" will change to an "F" if the work is not completed within the 90 days.

Exams

Exams are not open book or open note!  You need to STUDY!!

If you know that you will be out of town or extremely busy on the day of an exam,   you must email me a week (7 days) before the exam to tell me of the situation.  Documentation will need to be given (emailed or faxed) to the instructor at that time.  If approved, you will be able to take the exam the day after the exam is given to the class.

If you miss an exam, you will not be able to make it up.

These exceptions for making up exams does not refer to quizzes.  Quizzes are open on several days and are not able to be completed if missed.   Quizzes are also open-book and open note.

Lab Assignments, Late work, Make-Up Work!

Student is expected to look through the lab assignments for assignments that require more than the assigned week to complete the assignment. An example is chapter 3 assignments.

All lab assignments must be submitted through the assignment dropbox in one document and clearly labeled ! Lab assignments must be formatted to be opened in Microsoft Word to receive credit. (Refer to Student Tools)

--- Make -up lab assignments-- will be accepted only if the instructor has approved the circumstances. However, students have an entire week to do assignments. It is expected that students do the work early in the week in case of an emergency arising or if computer problems occur. Make-up work will only be accepted in proven personal/family emergencies or severe illness. When you contact me, you will be able to make up the last week of work, if it is an approved excuse. You will not be allowed to do any make up work unless it falls into one of these catergories .

Late lab assignments can be submitted as long as the drop box is open...which is about 3 days after the due date . Late assignments will be given half credit.

Discussion s can be made up in approved circumstances but no credit will be given for late discussions.
