East Hall (Traditional Residence Hall)

The 306 bed residence hall at UALR opened in 1992, providing the first campus housing in the history of UALR. Programs and services in the residence hall are geared toward the unique needs of first time entering freshmen.

Advantages for new students living on campus include:

  • Opportunities to get involved in campus activities, more contact with other students outside of class, and a more meaningful campus social life.
  • Heightened awareness of other cultures, values, and view points, all of which result from living in a community setting.
  • Ease and convenience that comes from walking to class rather than commuting.

Even though there are many advantages, students at UALR are not required to live on campus. The housing application is not included in the university admission application process. Housing applications are accepted year round; there is no deadline. However, because of limited space students are encouraged to apply by April for Fall semester placement .

First time entering freshmen will be assigned to East Hall. Freshmen who received the Donaghey Scholarship or the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship may be assigned to North or South Apartments on a space available basis.
