Spring 2011 Grad Fest

Grad Fest for the Spring 2011 semester will be held from March 9th through the 10th at the lowel level of the DSC. Grad Fest is designed to inform graduating students are the information that will need for a smooth graduation. Caps, gowns, exit procedures, etc will all be available during this event. Stop by the lowel level of the DSC on March 9th or 10th for lots of informative information. Times are from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both days. See You THERE!!!!

Spring 2011 Graduation Applications

Applications for the Spring 2011 are due by 5 p.m. on February 25, 2011. To apply log on to boss.ualr.edu and click on Student Requests and follow the prompts.

Spring 2011 Registration Information

Students who register will be required to confirm their registration and satisfy payment requirements to reserve their class selections.

Before they can confirm their registration, students will be asked to make a payment in full or a down payment on a deferred payment plan for any charges not covered by Financial Aid. If they don’t confirm and/or pay, their class selections will be deleted. Confirmation opens Dec. 15, 2010.

If students register between Dec. 15 to Jan. 7
They must confirm by Jan. 7, by 5 p.m.

If students register between Jan. 10 to Jan. 24
They must confirm by Jan. 24, by 5 p.m.

IMPORTANT: Students who have been confirmed but decide not to attend UALR for the semester must withdraw by 4 p.m. Jan. 24, 2011, to receive a 100% adjustment of charges.

History Lecture Dec. 7 Explores Little Rock’s Past

UALR History Professor C. Fred Williams will present a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, exploring how the Civil War and Reconstruction transformed Little Rock from a frontier village to a modern city of the New South.

The lecture, at the Ottenheimer Auditorium in the Historic Arkansas Museum at 200 E. Third St., is part of UALR’s History Institute’s series, “Evenings with History.”

The event begins at 7 p.m. with refreshments, followed by William’ lecture, “Little Rock, From Frontier Village to New South City: The Transforming Experience of the Civil War and Reconstruction.”

H.M.S. Pinafore Sets Sail Nov. 12-14

UALR’s Community Chorus and the Opera Theatre will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “H.M.S. Pinafore” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building.

Dr. Bevan Keating, director of UALR’s vocal program, said “Pinafore,” one the celebrated pair’s popular 14 comic operas, is the first of the UALR Department of Music’s 2010-2011 season’s choral, operatic, and vocal masterworks.

“Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall has just undergone an extensive renovation, and the results are stunning,” Keating said. “So this is our first season when we can show off its enhanced functionality and beauty.”

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for students and children. UALR students, faculty, and staff will be admitted free of charge.

Gallery III Hosts Small Works Through Oct. 31

UALR’s Gallery III will host the Arkansas Arts Council’s 2010 Small Works on Paper touring art exhibition Tuesday, Oct. 5, to Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Fine Arts Building. A public reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Gallery.

Several area artists are represented in this exhibition, including John Ahlen, Lynn Bell, Melissa Bacon, John Bridges, David Dodson, Ray Ogar, Ted Grimmett, Nancy Sadler, David Warren, Kenna Westerman, and Terry Wright, all of Little Rock; Brian Cormack and John Watson of North Little Rock; Mindy Lacefield and Dennis McCann of Maumelle; and Ellen Ishee O’Lonney of Roland.

Admission is free. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
