Study Sheet - Beginning Windows
1. Know the basic parts of the screen: desktop, icons, recycle bin, task bar. 2. Know how to access programs from the START button. 3. Know terms related to Windows: Title Bar, Menu Bar, Tool Bars, Status Bar. 4. Know how to resize windows: maximize (restore) buttons, minimize button, close button. 5. Be able to move an icon or a window around to a different place on the screen. 6. Know the mouse terms: click, double-click, drag 7. Be able to look in HELP using the Start Menu 8. Be able to SEARCH to find a file from the Start Menu 9. Be able to shutdown or restart the computer. 10. Be able to do a Cold Boot or a Warm Boot, or describe each, using the Start Menu. 11. Know how to run programs such as WordPad or Internet Explorer, from the Start Button. 12. Know how to use the Help command and to access the Start menu, including all programs used in this class. 13.Be able to look at names of files and folders on the hard drive and the floppy disk by clicking on "My Computer", and also by using "Windows Explorer". 14. Know how to access programs such as Internet Explorer on the Quick Launch toolbar. 15. Know how to copy files from the hard drive to the floppy drive. 16. Know how to copy files from one folder to another, or to the desktop. 17.Know how to delete a file using the Recycle bin, and empty it. |
