2. What's new with MS Office 2007
| Office Button - |
Displays the Office menu, a list of commands related to things you can do with a document such as opening, saving, printing. |
Quick Access Toolbar - (QAT) |
Displays buttons for frequently used commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo, with a single click. |

Provides quick access to the most frequently used formatting commands specific to the context of the selected text. |
| Ribbon - |
Organizes commands on tabs and groups the commands by topic for performing related document tasks. Replaces menus. |

Displays the page and line number, word count, and the Proof button on the left side. On right side, displays buttons to control the look of the window. |

3. New Document - Thank you letter exercise - Mostly the Home Tab
Heading (includes logo), Date line, inside address, greeting/salutation, body, closing, identif./signature

4. The Ribbon
- Tabs - represent the active area of Commands. There are seven tabs across the top of the Ribbon. Clicking a tab will determine what groups of commands you're looking at.
- Groups - display related commands together.
- Commands - are the buttons, tools, and menus that do tasks or display settings.
- Dialog Box Launcher - takes you too familiar menus, from older versions of Word.
5. Insert Text from File - Music School Records -
- Create a blank document: Insert tab, Text group, Object button arrow, Text from File
- Add a footer, with the name of the file in it: Insert tab, Header & Footer group, Footer button, Edit Footer. Then... Design tab, Insert group, Quick Parts button, & Field. Double click returns you to the body of text
- Insert Clip Art: Control-Home to move to the top. Click the Insert tab, Illustrations group, Clip Art button.
- Put a title at the top: Control-Home and type "Music School Records"
- Divide the first paragraph: Make two paragraphs instead of one, and do some edits. Save, Help, and Print
