INSTRUCTIONS
SUBMIT THIS APPLICATION ALONG WITH THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTING
MATERIAL (2nd-year applicants should note the bold text):

  1. Transcripts of all of your college work (unofficial worksheets will do); if you are a second-year applicant, include an updated transcript;
  2. Letters of recommendation from two faculty members, one of whom is a member of the UALR English faculty;
  3. A writing sample (up to 3 pieces, if available; ideally, these should represent the spectrum of your work: literary or linguistic analysis, research, creative writing); if you are a second-year applicant, you might want to submit a recent sample of your written work;
  4. A personal statement of interest in the Cooper Honors Program; this statement (no more than 2 typed single-spaced pages) should clarify what your career goals are (including post-graduate education) and how you think this program will further those goals; if you are a second-year applicant, you might want to mention your progress so far, changes from your previous year’s personal statement, as well as your attendance at Cooper Speakers Series events. If there is anything affecting your application that might need explanation (e.g. grade problems), this is the place to do it.
