Requirements

In addition to the Donaghey Scholars Program core curriculum and the study abroad requirement, the student must successfully meet the following program requirements before graduating as a Donaghey Scholar:

  • Studying a foreign language at least until the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam is  passed;
  • Completion of the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam with a score of intermediate-mid or higher;
  • A seminar or special topics course outside the Scholar’s primary field;
  • Fulfillment of the university's requirement in mathematics;
  • A course in American History or American National Government;
  • A laboratory science course;
  • A Final Project completed under the direction of a three member faculty committee;
  • An exit interview.
The Donaghey Scholar also declares major and minor fields of study and fulfills all of the university department requirements for those fields. Because of the academic work required in the Scholars Program, it is recommended that students limit their outside employment to 15 or less hours per week.
