Disability Resource Center

Assessment

These pages provide information on assessment efforts involving the Disability Resource Center. The first link on your left will direct you the DRC annual report for AY 2008-09. Next is a link to the grand-prize-winning poster from the annual UALR Assessment Expo that was held October 29 - 31, 2008. The next link is for the DRC’s five-year plan (2007-2012). And finally, the last link is for data from our surveys of students.

The DRC is actively pursuing ways to incorporate Appreciative Inquiry into assessment. This was the topic discussed by Dr. Lucille Sansing at the 2008 Assessment Expo. Dr. Sansing serves on the American Council on Education Educational Leadership Commission. Appreciative Inquiry is an area on which the DRC staff have presented at Ark-AHEAD (the state affiliate of the Association on Higher Education and Disabilities) and ACPA (Arkansas College Personnel Association), and will present at the international conference of AHEAD in July.

In addition, our staff have presented on Universal Design and Reframing Disability (the topics of our award-winning poster) all over the U.S. and Canada over the past several years. In particular, Melanie Thornton, the DRC Associate Director, was singled out for the Professional Recognition Award from AHEAD for her work in this area.

Questions should be directed to the Director, Sharon Downs, at sadowns@ualr.edu. Thank you for your interest!
