Optical character recognition (OCR) software (used with a scanner)
Description: Software that converts a printed page that has been scanned into electronic format (text file) for speech output or storage

Voice recognition
Description: Software that allows one to dictate to the computer which recognizes and digitizes one’s voice

Writing assistance
Description: Software that is designed to assist students with writing
Brand Name: Write Out Loud - talking word processor with a talking spell-checker; Co:Writer - word prediction program; Inspiration - a visual or graphic way to produce outlines and organize material

Mouse adaptations
Description: Adaptive pointing devices, such as trackballs

Keyboards
Description: Touch pad keyboard with large keys, keyboard guards to prevent hitting two keys at the same time, and single-handed keyboards

Wheelchair accessibility
Description: Wheelchair accessible tables; four residence hall rooms available with wheelchair access, built according to ADAAG

Fitness equipment
Description: Exercise equipment designed for people with physical disabilities; one workout station is designed for independent use by people with quadriplegia, the other has roll-away seats; additionally, there is a cardiovascular hand cycle

Other
Description: Windows applications that allow for keyboard adaptations (these should not be used in conjunction with other software such as Dragon Dictate)
Brand Name: Sticky Keys (to use Shift, Control, or Alt key by using one key at a time); Filter Keys (to ignore brief or repeated keystrokes or slow the repeat rate); Mouse keys (allows mouse movements using only the keyboard)
