Linda B. Austin,
BA, Ouachita Baptist University; Graduate Studies in Music and Education,
University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Little Rock.
An accomplished vocalist, Mrs. Austin has been teaching voice for over
twenty years. Among her many public and private music-related projects,
Mrs. Austin has a wealth of experience preparing young students for
vocal competitions and directing choirs. Linda has pursued graduate
studies in music and vocal training with the notable Dorothy Sawatski.
Linda is well known throughout Arkansas, not only for her superbly prepared
students and choirs, but for her ability to instill confidence in those
she teaches. |

Melodie
C. Breeding, MA in Liberal Studies, UALR; BA in Liberal Studies, UALR.
An Arkansas native, Melodie Breeding began her performance
career at the early age of five, winning a musician's showcase competition
featuring a piece on drum set. As the years went by, she could be seen
playing drums and various percussion instruments at local music festivals.
During her college career, Melodie studied with Charles Law who was
director of bands at UALR and principal percussionist for the Arkansas
Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Breeding has recently performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra,
Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra, The Pangolins, House of Blues of New
Orleans, Community Theatre of Little Rock, UALR Percussion Ensemble,
Celtic Knotwork and the Natural State Brass Band, to name a few.

Laura
Tze Sheung Carenbauer, BME, West Liberty State College; Royal School
of Music, London; Hong Kong Music Institute; Additional Training: Suzuki
Piano; Kindermusik® Certification.
Laura Carenbauer, a native of Hong Kong, teaches piano and Kindermusik®
in the Community School. Through the years, Laura has held positions
in school administration, piano and music education at various schools
in Michigan, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and her native Hong Kong.
An accomplished visual artist as well, Mrs. Carenbauer's most recent
study has been in the field of Visual Art at the University of Arkansas
at Little Rock. Laura is also trained in the Suzuki piano method and
has earned certification in all levels of Kindermusik®. An energetic,
enthusiastic, and happy teacher, the Community School is fortunate to
offer her expertise through its programs. |

George Chambers,
BA, Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, California The
Community School of the Arts is indeed fortunate to have George Chambers
conducting its photography classes. A graduate of the notable Brooks
Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, Mr. Chambers has a reputation
in both Fine Art and Commercial photography. He has many specialties
that include portraiture, product photography, architectural and food
photography, art documentation, and Fine Art photography. George's photographs
have won numerous awards and have been exhibited widely. He operates
a successful downtown studio where he is equally at home using high-technology
and "old" techniques such as platinum/palladium processing
and pinhole camera work. An inspiring and nurturing teacher, his students
are appreciative of his generosity in sharing skills, artistic ideas,
and time.

Ryan
Davis, ME Candidate, Boston University, MA; BA in Guitar Studies, University
of Arkansas at Little Rock; AA in Music, Yuba College, CA; Certification
in Suzuki Guitar.
Guitarist Ryan Davis joined the UALR Community School of the Arts in
2005. In addition to his position as a guitar lecturer with CSA, Ryan
is also a full-time music teacher in the Sherwood and Sylvan Hills public
schools where he provides classroom instruction in guitar, voice, piano,
and percussion. Mr. Davis also is an adjunct faculty member at Lyons
College and Arkansas State University where he teaches guitar. The CSA
is pleased to have such an energetic teacher among its faculty.
Of particular note among Ryan's many accomplishments:
Master's Degree candidate in Music at Boston University, Boston, MA.
AR Department of Education's Standard Teacher's License in vocal music.
Suzuki Guitar certification from Texas State University in San Marcos.
Mr. Davis teaches students with an interest in classical, jazz and rock

Beth Decker, BA
candidate in Fine Arts, University of Arkansas at Little Rock; University
of Arkansas, Fayetteville; University of Central Arkansas.
Miss Decker is a native Arkansan from Ft. Smith. She is a talented
young artist who loves working with children, and sees their unique
perspective to be an inspiration to her art, as well as her daily life.
She feels the need to share her talent with the young people of our
community, and by introducing the science of color, the wonder of texture,
and the structure of shape, she hopes to inspire children to embrace
their creativity. |

Ceola Dockery,
BA candidate, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, AR; University
of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, AR; University of South
Alabama, Moblie, AL.
Ceola Dockery joined the Community School in the Fall of 2006. A talented
young Fine Art photographer, Ceola teaches photography classes to children
and works as an assistant to the registrar of the Community School of
the Arts. She will finish her BA studies this fall 2007. Moving into
the local art scene, Ceola has recently begun to exhibit her own photographs
and has found early success in competitive exhibitions. Responsible,
quiet and understated, Ms. Dockery is a delightful presence and an important
addition to the workings of the CSA. |

David Dunavant,
MM Bowling Green State Univeristy, Ohio; BA University of Arkanss at
Little Rock, AR.
The Community School of the Arts welcomes David Dunavant to its guitar
faculty this fall of 2007. As a university teacher, Mr. Dunavant has
taught music history classes, Jazz combo and Jazz and Rock Ensemble.
An adjunct instructor with the UALR music department, Mr. Dunavant David
will divide his time between college and community school students and,
of course, playing professionally. While David teaches all ages and
levels, he has specialized over the years in teaching beginner and intermediate
guitar. He is regarded as a patient, good-natured, and talented teacher
by faculty and students alike and is a most welcomed addition to the
CSA. |

Endia
Bumgarner Gomez, MA candidate in Fine Arts, University of Arkansas at
Little Rock; BA University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
The Community School of the Arts welcomes Endia Gomez, one of the newest
additions to the Visual Arts program. Born and raised in Wynne, Arkansas,
Endia has exhibited her paintings and drawings widely throughout Arkansas.
She is recognized as one of the more interesting up-and-coming young
artists coming out of the state.
As a teacher, Mrs. Gomez recognizes the importance of encouraging the
artistic side of both children and adults. She tries to get to know
each of her students, helping them to develop their own unique expression
and talents. Her good nature, patience, and enthusiasm for teaching
make classroom environment both pleasant and exciting for her students
of all ages.

Gwenn Higginbotham, BME, University
of Central Arkansas; Graduate studies, North Texas State University.
Gwenn Higginbotham comes to the Community School of the Arts with
considerable experience in teaching and performing. Mrs. Higginbotham's
vast experience includes directing school bands, private flute and
woodwind teaching, and performing on flute and piccolo in solo, ensemble,
chamber, band, and orchestral venues. A very busy person with her
work at UAMS, the VA hospital, and her own considerable performance
career, the community is indeed fortunate that Mrs. Higginbotham is
committed to sharing her considerable skills, and her joyful enthusiasm
for music, through teaching.

Trudy Kincade,
MA, BM, BSE, Eastern Illinois University.
Pianist Trudy Kincade, Lecturer in Music, joined the UALR faculty in
1974. In addition to her position as Coordinator of the UALR Community
School of the Arts' Piano Program, Trudy teaches accompanying, harpsichord
and accompanies applied music students as a member of the UALR Music
Department faculty. She is a frequent clinician in accompanying and
sight reading and serves as an adjudicator for piano competitions throughout
the state of Arkansas.
Mrs. Kincade has held numerous administrative positions with the Music
Teachers National Association, with whom she holds national certification.
In 1999 she was named the College Teacher of the Year by the Arkansas
State Music Teachers Association.
Trudy is profoundly dedicated to her students and to creating an outstanding
piano program. Her years of hard work, combined with an excellent piano
faculty, have resulted in the finest community piano program in the
state. |

Keith
A. Klosky, BA Music, University of Arkansas at Little Rock; BA English,
Florida State University.
Keith Klosky, a seven-year veteran of the viola section of the UALR
Community Orchestra, joins the Community School of the Arts after completing
his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. A co-founder of the Willow Duet
and Consortium, he has played throughout the state of Arkansas in a
variety of venues. A past volunteer musician at UAMS, the William F.
Laman Library and the Encourager Program, he enjoys bringing music to
new places and reaching new audiences. He is extremely honored to have
been chosen to participate in the far reaching programs of the Community
School of the Arts. In turn, CSA is most delighted to count this energetic
and caring teacher among its faculty. |

Antonio Mesa, Graduate,
Centre de Danse International, Cannes, France.
Mr. Mesa is a native of Ceuta, a Spanish city in Morocco. He is a graduate
of the Centre de Danse International in Cannes, France, where he studied
ballet with such notables as Rosella Hightower, Jose Ferran, Anton Dolin,
and Spanish dance with Emma Maleras. He made his debut as a professional
dancer with Miss Hightower and became a member of the Strasbourg Opera
ballet in France. In the United States, Mr. Mesa was a soloist with
the Ruth Page Chicago Ballet and performed as guest artist with the
Kansas City, Dallas and Omaha Ballet companies.
For ten years, Mr. Mesa was the Arkansas Art Center's Artist-in-Residence
during which time he taught classes, choreographed dance works and performed.
Today, he is the founder and artistic director of the Arkansas Ballet
Theatre, a nonprofit performing company under the Community School of
the Arts, that brings high quality classical ballet performances to
Arkansas. In keeping with its standard of excellence, the Community
School of the Arts in honored to have Mr. Mesa amongst its faculty.

James Olmstead,
BM Hendrix College.
James is an Arkansas native who has a strong background as a performer.
As a Junior High and High School student, he was an annual state competition
winner. Following his studies at Hendrix, James began in January of
2008 as a studio accompanist and répétiteur for the UALR
Music Department and as a piano teacher for the UALR Community School
of the Arts.
He has worked at the Repertory Theatre as AMD for Hello, Dolly! and
previously at Hendrix College as the rehearsal pianist for Turandot
and Carmina Burana, and music director for Landscape of the Body. The
summer of 2008 he worked at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing
Arts as Assistant Music Director for Ragtime and Hot Mikado,

Diann
Parker, MME, University of Central Arkansas; BA, Southern Arkansas University,
Magnolia, AR.
Diann Brown Parker is well known throughout central Arkansas as a consummate
music teacher. An Arkansas native, Mrs. Parker is lovingly rooted in
Arkansas and its people with a long succession of accomplished music
students over decades of teaching. A perpetual student herself, Diann
has received the Master's degree in Music Education from the University
of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR and the Bachelor's degree in Music from
Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, Arkansas.
A multi-talented musician, Mrs. Parker plays the piano, her primary
instrument. She is also proficient in organ, wind instruments, brass,
percussion and strings. Her greatest gift of all, however, arguably
lies with her ability to teach, especially her ability to cheerfully
motivate and communicate skills. In the Community School's ever-growing
piano and instrument program, Diann is a unique and valuable addition.

Marian
Payne, Masters Degree Candidate, Secondary Music Education, University
of Arkansas at Little Rock; BA, Vocal Performance, University of Arkansas
at Little Rock.
Marian Payne is a native-born Texan, raised in Houston. Her beautiful
voice has led her to a rich and varied performance career, and the academic
study of voice, conducting, and music education.
Marian has participated in many solo and choral competitions throughout
the United States. She has had the privilege of singing with several
symphony orchestras and symphony choruses. In 1996, Ms. Payne was awarded
a scholarship to perform Mahler's Eighth Symphony with the Zubin Mehta,
the Israeli Philharmonic, and the Dallas Symphony Chorus as part of
the "Jerusalem 3,000 Birthday Celebration" in Israel.
Currently, Marian continues her vocal studies with the notable Dorothy
Sawatski and is a Masters Degree candidate in Secondary Music Education.
She has been student conductor for the UALR Concert Choir, continues
to sing professionally, tutors college music students, and teaches Voice
and Piano through the UALR Community School of the Arts. |

Alberta
McCauly Pearson, MFA, Memphis State University; BA, MA, University of
Arkansas at Little Rock.
Alberta Pearson brings to the Community School of the
Arts many years of expertise teaching art on the college level. She
taught regularly through the UALR Department of Art and enjoys working
with younger students through the Community School. Through Mrs. Pearson,
the younger student has the distinct advantage of being introduced to
techniques, materials, and ideas that students receive in college.
Alberta, by profession, is a sculptor whose artwork has
been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. Her own considerable
talent as an artist, and her ability to effectively work with all age
groups, makes her classes rich and inspiring. |

Steve Struthers,
Musicians Institute, Hollywood, CA.
A member of the UALR Music Department faculty, Mr. Struthers teaches
guitar for the college music student. He also teaches noncredit guitar
for adults and children through the Community School of the Arts. Steve
has developed an impressive reputation as a performer and teacher. In
the professional music community, Steve is regarded as one of the finest
guitarists in the region - a true musician's musician. Although essentially
a jazz guitarist, he is equally at home with rock, pop,and blues music.
Struthers has performed in Canada, Greenland, and throughout most of
the United States. He has played with such notables as Herb Ellis, Pharaoh
Sanders, Johnny Winter, Eddie Harris, Art Porter, Sr., Charles Thomas,
as well as in concert with famous groups such as Black Sabbath, Deep
Purple, and Iron Butterfly. The Community School is very fortunate to
offer guitar instruction through Mr. Struthers.

Vivian
Weiwen Ye, MA in Linguistic Methodology, L'École des Haute Études,
College of Social Sciences, Paris, France ; BA, South China Normal School,
Department of Chinese.
The UALR Community School of the Arts is pleased to announce the
appointment of Vivian Ye as head of the Chinese Language Arts program.
Mrs. Ye is an accomplished linguist and an experienced and dedicated
teacher. After much time and effort in developing a totally original
curriculum for the UALR Community School, Mrs. Ye offers classes in
Conversational Chinese and Chinese Culture to the Little Rock community.
