Cooperative Education

Participating Majors and Eligibility Requirements

Students are eligible to apply for Cooperative Education if they meet the following minimum requirements:

College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences

International Studies 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours and completion of at least six credit hours of upper-level courses in major, INTS 2301, 2302, ECON 2321, Foreign Language 2312
Political Science 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours and completion of at least one upper-level course in major and POLS 1310
Psychology 2.5 GPA 30 credit hours and completion of or enrollment in PSYC 2340 or 2310, completion of PSYC 2300 and six upper-level credit hours in Psychology
Professional & Technical Writing 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours and completion of RHET 3316 or 3326 (passing with a grade of B or better)
Sociology and Anthropology 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours

 

College of Business

Accounting 3.0 GPA 60 credit hours and completion or concurrent enrollment in ACCT 3311
Economics and Finance 2.5 GPA 90 credit hours and completion of at least nine credit hours of upper-level courses in major (Business Finance is not considered an upper-level course in major for Co-op eligibility)
Management 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Marketing and Advertising 2.5 GPA 90 credit hours and completion of at least nine credit hours of upper-level Marketing or Advertising courses
International Business 2.5 GPA 90 hours and at least nine hours of upperlevel Marketing or Advertising courses or nine hours of upperlevel Finance or Economics courses.

 

College of Professional Studies

Criminal Justice 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Journalism 2.5 GPA

Broadcast Journalism Option: 60 hours and completion of JOUR 2350, JOUR 3365, and RTVF 2300
Public Relations Option: 60 hours and completion of ADVT 3300 and JOUR 4380
News-Editorial Option: 60 hours and completion of JOUR 2350 and JOUR 3320.

Radio, T.V., and Film 2.5 GPA 90 credit hours
Speech Communication 2.5 GPA 3.0 GPA in major and completion of fifteen credit hours in Speech Communication courses

 

College of Information Science and Systems Engineering

Computer Science 2.75 GPA 60 credit hours and completion of CPSC 3375 or 3385
Construction Management 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Engineering Technology 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Information Science 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Systems Engineering 2.5 GPA completion of at least 60 total credit hours with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher, and completion of 20 or more credit hours of Systems Engineering courses with a GPA of 2.5 or higher

Biology 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Environmental Health Sciences 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Earth Science 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Health Sciences 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours
Physics 2.5 GPA 60 credit hours

 

Graduate Programs

Applied Science 3.0 GPA full time attendance for one semester in the Applied Science program with a 3.0 GPA or better and the approval of the major professor and the graduate coordinator
Computer Science 3.0 GPA completion of Graduate Core
Earth Science 3.0 GPA consent of Department chair
Integrated Science 3.0 GPA consent of program director
Professional & Technical Writing 2.75 GPA recommendation of Departmental Cooperative Education Coordinator
