UALR Community Orchestra to Perform Holiday Concert

The UALR Community Orchestra will give its annual Fall Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Bldg. Music Department Chair Dr. Victor Ellsworth will conduct the 45-piece orchestra as they perform works by Bach, Schubert, a medley of holiday pieces and more.

A Week of Music Performances

The UALR Department of Music will hold numerous performances during the first week of December, beginning with a guitar ensemble at 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1. Dr. Michael Carenbauer will direct students as they perform classical and jazz pieces for guitar. The Gospel Chorale will perform under the direction of Dr. Sharon Young at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2. Dr. Micheal Underwood will lead the Jazz Ensemble at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, and the Wind Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. The Concert Choir, Women’s Chorus, and Chamber Singers will round out the week with a holiday performance directed by Dr. Bevan Keating at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Tickets to the Friday concert are $5; UALR students admitted free with ID.

All concerts are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. All concerts will be held in the Stella Boyle Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, UALR. For more information or tickets, call the Department of Music at (501) 569 – 3294.

UALR Music Department to Hold Guitar Ensemble

The UALR Music Department will hold a guitar ensemble at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building. Michael Carenbauer will direct students as they perform a variety of works. The concert begins with a classical guitar trio performing works by Henry Purcell and Chick Corea.  The latter part of the concert is performed by the student jazz guitar ensemble and rhythm section accompaniment.  The program concludes with 3 compositions by UALR Professor Michael Carenbauer.
