RESEARCH INTERESTS
With a background in human genetics, immunogenetics, and immunology, most of my previous research focused on immunological aspects of identical blood transfusions and organ transplants. I have identified human genes and their receptors associated with infectious diseases. These studies were performed on wide range of screening and their ability to protect against diseases. Identification and characterization of genes that are relevant to infectious disease, drug-effectiveness, the application of gene expression will implement therapeutic strategies. At the present I am working on spores of non-pathogenic Bacillus species genetically relatives of B. anthracis and development inhibitors preventing spores’ germination. These studies are meaningful for pathogen-host interaction studies, for the development of detection methods, establishment of a ligands library, vaccine production, and decontamination methods development. We have also started work in bioscaffolding for cell biology and their applications. These methods will be important in building 3D ex vivo tissue constructs for testing of vaccine and immunomodulators.
