Dr. Johanna Miller Lewis, Ph.D., project director, is Professor of History and the assistant coordinator for the Public History program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Aside from teaching responsibilities, she plays an active role in community projects and has worked on the Central High Museum and Visitor’s Center, the National Dunbar History Project, and is currently serving on two grand opening committees for the Historic Arkansas Museum. Dr. Lewis took her Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 1991. She is the author of numerous articles and the book, Artisans in the North Carolina Backcountry, 1995.
Dr. Deborah J. Baldwin, Ph.D., President, Arkansas Women’s History Institute, is Professor of History and the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at UALR. A historian of Latin America, she holds the Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and has published extensively on the history of Mexico. She is a founding member of the Women’s History Institute, serves as the faculty advisor to the Odyssey of the Mind program at Mt. St. Mary’s Academy, and participates in numerous other civic activities.
Dr. Laura Ackerman Smoller, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of History at UALR and an adjunct member of the Medical Humanities faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. A specialist in the history of science and medicine, Dr. Smoller took her Ph.D. from Harvard University and has published extensively. In addition to chairing the website launch party for “A Gathering of Women” at the Historic Arkansas Museum, she also sits on the foundation board for that organization, as well as the boards of the History of Medicine Associates and the Pinnacle Players.
Jessica Fulbright, project manager, is currently finishing her graduate work in the public history program. Aside from the women’s history project, Ms. Fulbright is performing an internship at the Historic Arkansas Museum in the development department. She also served as project manager on a class project to write a comprehensive history of Mount St. Mary Academy and recently completed an internship at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas History. Ms. Fulbright received her B.S. in biology from the University of the Ozarks.

Branch entered
the Public History program in 1999; he works at a Little Rock
manufacturing company and part-time at the Historic Arkansas Museum.
Mr. Branch took his Bachelors of Arts degree
in Spanish with a minor in Art from the University of Central Arkansas.
He also studied Art History and Studio Art
on a graduate level at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Stacey Craig graduated from UALR with a major in History and minor in Spanish and entered the public history program shortly thereafter. Ms. Craig is the store manager at Historic Arkansas Museum and held a graduate assistantship at the Central High Museum and Visitor Center. She also served as the project manager for a history of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, leading to a position there from 1999-2001.
Kathleen Pate is finishing her graduate work in the public history program. Ms. Pate is a graduate assistant at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and performing an internship at the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. She will be mediating a talk on the use of reproductions in museum programming at the 2001 Arkansas Museum Association conference. Currently Ms. Pate is heading a team of graduate students to write a history of the Boyle Realty Agency.Ms. Pate is employed at the Historic Arkansas Museum in the education department.
Wendy Scott Perkins is a graduate student in Public History at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. Currently she is in the 46th Military History Detachment in the 90th Division at Camp Pike as part of the Army Reserve. She was recently employed at the Arkansas History Commission as part of the Stage One Digitization team.
Heather Register, a Public History graduate student, holds a graduate assistantship at the Central High School National Historic Site and is also employed at the Old State House museum in Little Rock, AR. She recently attended the Antiques Forum held annually at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation on a scholarship. Ms. Register holds two Bachelors of Arts degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in English and History.
Rhonda Stewart, a graduate student in the Public History program, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations in 1985 from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. Ms. Stewart is very active in the community and recently documented the burial places of prominent African-Americans in Little Rock for Black History Month. Currently she works at the Central High School National Historic Site.
Mary Catherine Williams graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in European History from the University of Oklahoma. She is currently working on her thesis, a history of Route 66 in Oklahoma, for completion of her Master of Arts degree in Public History. A member of Phi Alpha Theta, a history honors society, since 1998, she formerly worked at the University of Oklahoma's Advanced Center for Genome Technology. Ms. Williams recently took a job as a museum curator in Ardmore, OK.
Pat Pearce is a Systems Analyst with UALR’s Department of Computing Services. In his current position, he is Webmaster for the university and director of the Faculty-Staff Resource Center. Mr. Pearce holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information systems. He designed the web pages for the Cyber College, the Department of Applied Science, Computing Services and the Help Desk.
