Genelle “Missye” Tyler has taught secondary English since 1974, serving 28 years in Pulaski County Special School District teaching grades 7-12. The last 18 of those years were spent teaching Pre-AP high school English—World Literature, American Literature and British Literature—and serving as AP Coordinator for Mills University Studies High School for 9 years. From 2002-2007 Missye taught Pre-AP World Lit to sophomores and serving as AP Coordinator at Episcopal Collegiate School, an independent school in Little Rock. Missye trained as a College Board English consultant in 1996 and has been presenting at College Board 2-day workshops, AP Summer Institutes, Southwestern Regional Forums and College Board National Forums for 12 years. In 2005 Missye was elected to the College Board Southwestern Regional Council and serves as the region’s representative to the College Board National Academic Assembly Council. Missye joined the staff of Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science as English Program Director in the fall of 2007.
